Weather can have a bigger impact on your move than you might expect. Rain, heat, humidity, snow, and sudden temperature changes can affect furniture, electronics, clothing, and other household belongings. Packing with the expected conditions in mind can help keep everything protected during transportation.

For warmer destinations, use breathable packing materials for clothing and make sure fabrics are completely dry before boxing them. Electronics and other heat-sensitive items should be protected from direct sunlight and excessive temperatures.

Rain requires extra care. Use waterproof bags for important documents, photographs, and electronics, and keep cardboard boxes away from wet surfaces. Furniture can be covered with protective blankets or suitable plastic covers.

For colder moves, protect belongings from snow and moisture. Wrap furniture carefully and give temperature-sensitive electronics time to adjust before turning them on at your destination.
